The Peppermill Resort Spa Casino is getting a new look for its 16-year-old sign. The display will better fit the hotel’s Tuscany-themed facade, a manager said.

The sign, which replaced the casino’s first sign in 1999, was a splash of rainbow and stars that could clearly be seen looming over South Virginia Street.
On Tuesday, crews were on site tearing the familiar red, yellow, green and blue letters from the marquee. The decision to replace the sign was made over the course of several months, Katie Silva, corporate communications manager, said.

“We are in the process of removing our current marquee and replacing with a new one featuring modern hi-def screens designed around a classic Tuscan theme in the coming months,” Silva said in an emailed statement.

“This one replaced the one from the ’70s, and the new [sign] will be more modern with today’s time,” she said.
