If anything we manufactured and installed fails in the first 5 years of service,
if properly supplied with power (for lighted signs),
Signs Manufacturing™ will
provide both PARTS and SERVICE free of charge. This includes programmable LED
signs … EVERYTHING we build!
Electronic components of the sign which are NOT manufactured by Signs
Manufacturing™ are supported by their manufacturer’s warranty, usually one year.
This warranty does not extend another manufacturer’s warranty for a part that is
separately purchased as part of the sign.
10-Year Extendable Warranty
When you are confident in your quality, you can offer a 10 year parts and labor
full-coverage warranty option. When you have been in business since 1979, that
warranty actually means something! Our new signs will have a 10 year extended
warranty option available for a slight additional cost.
Other sign companies cannot offer this, or don’t offer both parts AND labor. If
they do, have they been in business long enough for their warranty to be
meaningful? When they have only been in business a few years, their warranty is
just a gimmick.

historic needs. And we will provide free technical support and training so long
as a single sign in any design is still functioning. Most competitors actually

Servicing EMC’s
FOR YOUR INFORMATION, HERE’S A COPY
OF WHAT WE TELL OUR CUSTOMERS IN WRITING WHEN WE’RE ASKED TO SERVICE EMCs:
Realize that if you purchase a Digital LED Display from a non-manufacturer,
unless the manufacturer has local factory-direct service, this is what the
company you purchased the display from has to go thru also, IF they offer
service labor at all!
"You are about to arrange for us to service an EMC
(A Digital LED Electronic Message Center Sign.)
If it is a
Sunburst LED Display, which we manufacture, you’re in luck, no problems. We
have parts in stock for every sign we ever manufactured, some over 20 years old.
But if you are
arranging for us to service a competitor’s sign you need to be aware of facts
that will hopefully keep you from hating us in the near future!
Usually
everything goes smoothly, but:
-
Failures can be software, parts, connectors, connections, even wires.
Because of this we usually must spend time talking to competitive customer
service representatives to gain access into their software and/or
troubleshoot your sign with them before they will send parts.
Unfortunately, time is money. (We usually spend a lot of time on “hold”
waiting to talk to their representative!)

There are no generic electronic EMC sign parts, all must come from the
manufacturer, which takes time, and parts from the manufacturer require
multiple trips to your sign by our service personnel.
-
Manufacturers that do not supply factory service without the customer paying
for airfare, hotel, car, etc. know the customer is over a barrel and charge
dearly for parts. And, yes, we charge additionally for their parts to cover
our costs of ordering and having to pay in advance for their parts. (Their
parts cost more than our similar parts, but our parts usually can’t work in
their sign.)

Sometimes we have to return defective parts before new ones will be sent; or
they don’t have new parts and we have to return the old part so they can
refurbish it so your sign can work again. This takes even more time.

Sometimes they don’t have parts available after troubleshooting, and you are
out of luck unless we replace your sign, because they don’t even refurbish
old, defective parts. We don’t refurbish parts either, all of our
replacement parts for our signs are new, and we have every part we ever used
in stock.

Most competitive manufacturers do not allow electronic replacement parts to
be returned even if the part did not fix the signs problem as they
predicted.

Generic parts such as antennas communicate with security codes in the signs
operating program so even they must be supplied by the signs manufacturer or
the sign reprogrammed which will cost you much more.

Just because we are servicing your sign, we are not adopting it. Sometimes
something else fails the next day, especially in signs without forced
ventilation or air-conditioning, because of the extremely high internal
cabinet heat every part of the sign has had to endure. Even if a
competitive manufacturer repairs a part, most of the returned part is still
as old as the rest of your sign. All of our signs either have forced
ventilation or air-conditioning plus all have internal NASA ceramic
microsphere coatings, and we do not experience this problem.

Signs manufactured in China can be a very large
problem. Unfortunately, the customer who bought the sign is usually not
aware it was manufactured in China until we tell them. The signs usually
have no ventilation or A/C; even the wiring is substandard for the heat of
Texas and fails over time. Most Chinese EMC manufacturers only survive a
short time, and their internal parts have no identification so they are not
traceable to other manufacturers. Sometimes we recognize them and can
obtain replacements from surviving manufacturers, though, because we service
a lot of Chinese signs. The Chinese Government does not allow parts or
merchandise to be returned, for any reason!
We want to service your sign and get it back in
working order as quickly as possible. We’re very good at this, partly
because we also manufacture these types of signs, and know them in-and-out.
But, if you look at Signs Manufacturing and Maintenance’s one-star Google
reviews, most are from frustrated competitive EMC owners disappointed with the
repair timeline and cost, because of the facts above, or our inability to
magically repair their defective sign. If you’re frustrated with the
results, please realize that we are too, but we are your best hope for getting
your sign working without flying in technicians from the manufacturer, if they
are even available!"
Replacement Parts Warranty
When
doing service work on a sign that we built and installed, but is no longer
covered by its new sign warranty, we guarantee the replacement parts for one
year against failure. Parts for competitor’s signs that we service carry a 30
day warranty against failure (not including components that they send us, which
we do not cover at all).
Insurance and Assurance
Signs Manufacturing™ is insured, registered, licensed and bonded per City and State regulations, and carries Product Liability Insurance. We provide Deposit and Completion Insurance; we offer all our customers to be listed as "Additional Insured" for free on our $4,000,000 insurance policy providing coverage if we default, and as "Additional Insured" on our $25,000,000 Worker's Compensation/Accident Insurance.
Our
Guarantees and Warranties are real, not stories told trying to get an order. A
competitor once offered a customer a 7-year guarantee, trying to steal
business. Fortunately our customer realized what was going on, because this
competitor didn’t stay in business a year.
A
guarantee or warranty is only as strong as the people backing it. We’re the
actual manufacturer, not some middle-man with little investment, and our
Lifetime Warranties™ are 45+ years long – so far! (During 15 years of
record-keeping, over 40% of the electrical sign companies licensed by the State
during the period had already gone out of business, many lasting less than a
year, according to official Texas State records.)

Remember that acts of God,
accidents, electrical surges, brownout damage, etc. are always excluded; make
sure you add your sign to your insurance policy.
If you later decide you want a
different LED sign than the one you have (maybe larger, or higher resolution,
etc.) the unused portion of the Forever™ Guarantee can be applied to the cost of
your new sign.

Unfortunately no surge/lightning protection system is 100% effective.
Your property insurance should cover this eventuality. But if it
doesn’t, we will cover this continuing risk with optional electrical
surge/lightning Zap Insurance™, available for signs which have our
electrical surge/lightning Zap Protection™ (above) installed.
If a Zap Insured™ sign is damaged by either electrical surge or
lightning strike we cover all costs of repair, up to and including
replacing the entire sign if it is destroyed by an occurrence.
