What is a Price Quotation?A Quotation, also called a Sales Order or Proposal, is a fixed price offer that can't be changed once accepted by the customer and provider. Parties must adhere to the quotation price even if more work than expected becomes necessary, therefore quotations specify precisely what is to be done, and situations that will lead to additional charges (Terms and Conditions.) Quotations include expiry information after which they will no longer be valid. When comparing offers by competing companies be aware of whether each company is presenting you with an Estimate, or a valid Quotation. Estimates are always significantly lower than firm, detailed Quotations. In the sign business, Quotations contain due-diligence and understanding. Estimates are an attempt to reel-in a prospect without doing too much work, usually avoiding any details, or situations that will raise costs. Buyer Beware. After all, what really matters is what your actual end-cost is, and what this investment accomplishes for you.
