These signs are programmed by sending "slides" from a computer to the sign, then the sign displays the slides in a very similar fashion to a PowerPoint presentation. The sign has a processor and components that tells each individual LED on the sign what they need to do in order to render those "slides" properly.

Yes. However, these signs are built for outdoor visibility which means they are significantly brighter and more durable than something used for indoor purposes, such as a television. While a television is fine when viewed indoors it is simply not sufficient to be noticed in the Sun from traffic viewing distances (typically over 40' away).

Sunburst LED Signs are designed for outdoor visibility and durability. They are very bright, but also have a sensor to reduce the illumination when it gets dark outside to avoid the sign being "too" bright to be read. They can be programmed to be brighter or dimmer, to fit any requirement. They also have a failsafe so that even if a light is shining on the sensor at night the sign will still dim down as needed.

Typical life for an LED sign is over 15 years, but it varies by use. LEDs do not "go out" like a regular lightbulb. They dim over time. After 15 years of constant use the LEDs in a programmable LED sign are still lighting and advertising but they're getting to the point that the owner may want to consider replacing them. We offer solutions that will completely replace the LEDs in the sign after 15 years (or 20, 25, 30, whatever the customer chooses) without having a large expense at the end of the lifespan.

The LEDs display full color, but we can custom paint the sign frame any color the customer chooses.

Yes, we have several options for you. Our primary programming option is over the cloud by simply logging in to a website (either using your building's network or a cellular network), telling the sign what you want it to display, then logging off. You can do that from anywhere that has an internet connection. Alternatively, we can provide software so that you can open the software on a computer on your network, tell the sign what you want to display, then turn off the computer. Lastly, we can keep the sign entirely off your building's internet if you want to connect to the sign with a laptop and update it that way. Your Sales Representative will help decide what is the best option for you.

These signs use shockingly little electricity. A 4'x8' full color sign only uses approximately 500 watts of power.

LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. Each diode creates a color, generally red, green or blue. By combinding those colors you generate other colors, just like a computer monitor. There's basically two types of technology on the market today: LED and SMD. Both have their place in signage. LEDs are brighter and work best for outdoor use. They also last longer and are more durable. SMDs are smaller, dimmer, but you can pack more of them into a smaller area. So, although each SMD may be smaller than their LED cousins, when you pack twice as many in there you can still achieve a very bright sign. In short ... get a full color sign. The monochrome signage is much less widely used anymore. Finding parts and even new suppliers for the technology is difficult as almost everybody has abandoned monochrome as the full color LED signage prices have come down.
