Digital Graphics on Monument Sign Faces

There are four options for digital graphics for signs: use opaque or translucent ink, each printed on opaque or translucent vinyl or plastic.  All-translucent graphics are best for lighted signs, but most sign companies cannot supply them, their printers and inks are designed to print yard signs and banners.  Their “lighted” sign faces can only display dark letters (opaque) on a lighted background!

Our Large Format Printers sign faces do not.  Our printers are now specifically designed to print translucent lighted graphics (they could also print yard signs and banners; but we don’t do this.)

Signs Manufacturing’s™ new Large Format Prints use the newest development in outdoor digital graphics; longer-lasting, non-solvent-based, UV-curing inks and they incorporate our Tri-Layer Graphics™printing process producing vibrant translucent graphics that also remain vibrant when not lighted; a breakthrough!

Plus, we modified the printer’s performance to accommodate the Texas sun and heat. Off-the-shelf printers are not designed for Texas. The levels of ink they use, when exposed to Texas heat, actually absorb through the substrate and dissolve the glue that keeps the vinyl on the sign face!  Not good! Most companies just put these graphics up as-is...after all it's the industry standard. But we weren’t satisfied, we redesigned the printers to include custom, unique printing programs designed specifically to resist Texas weather.

Historically, even the very best unprotected graphics, because of the ink, have a 3 year outdoor life.  Most last far less.  A faded sign is neither impressive nor helpful in attracting customers to your business; in fact it will probably discourage them.  If you use digital graphics outdoors you need to plan on changing the prints often, or buy “protected” graphics for extended life.  Some say laminating another layer of vinyl over the printing protects the graphics; our experience tells us otherwise.

Not only are our inks superior, we protect our graphics with a Solarguard™ coating. Solarguard™ is "sunscreen for your sign". It filters the harmful UV rays which cause inks aging problems in the first place!  Then we double-protect our graphics with a vandal-resistant Lumabrite™ coating ( see above.)  Our graphics last much longer.  Guaranteed.

Lighting Digital Graphics

Digital prints, and color transparencies, should be lighted with full-spectrum light sources to bring out all of their color.

That said, NO light source created by humans matches the output of the sun.  Recognize that all colors vary when viewed by human eyes with varied lighting and/or back-lighting.  Customers must decide under which lighting conditions they want their closest color match if color-matching is critical.

Colors may vary slightly because of the computer or printer used.

Our customers can furnish us with paint or PMS numbers, or the brand and name of paint (example:  PMS 183 or Sherwin-Williams Ruby Red, and we will obtain a mixing formula free of charge.  Our customer can also select exact colors from our 35,000+ color samples at no additional charge.  Alternatively, our customer can provide an actual sample, 3” square minimum, of their color selections and we will run them through an exact color matching process.  Exact color matching from a color sample incurs an additional charge, however.
