Why Buy Your Digital Signage Factory-Direct, and from a State-Licensed Company?
Why not buy from a Sign Dealer (also called a Sign Broker, Car Wrap company or a Sign Store?)
There are literally hundreds of them.
Would you give a car dealer $10,000 and tell him to buy you the best car he can for the money, sight unseen (or from a drawing?) Don't you think you would get the car that made him the most?
Do you think you could meet your needs asking for the cheapest car he can buy?
Why would a sign dealer (Car Wrap company or sign store) be any different? Remember, they are
merely buying a sign from a manufacturer, maybe foreign, to resell to you, usually to resemble a
drawing, making the most money they can.
You need to know ALL of the details on how your sign will be manufactured, and how it will be installed. It needs to meet YOUR needs, not the seller's profit goals. What is he telling the manufacturer you don't need so he can make more money?
Believing "...a sign is a sign" gets you a Yugo instead of a Cadillac. Remember the Yugo? They didn't last very long, either.
Also, most sign dealers, Car Wrap companies and sign stores cannot legally install or service an electric sign. Ask to see their license.
Ask to see a manufacturer's license also. A few are not licensed to do electrical work, either, they also have to hire other companies to install the signs they make.
Now, who provides the warranty? The manufacturer, the installer, the salesman, anyone? If the sign was installed illegally do you think they'll honor their warranty? Did they REALLY obtain your City sign permit? Is the sign even safe?
As a large, UL listed manufacturer, our name is on all our signs. Just like you,
we can't afford to have a bad sign destroy our business. We have to care,
particularly with our 5 Year $0 Cost Warranty and Lifetime Guarantees.
If you wonder if a sign-seller can legally install and service electrical signs through-out Texas go to http://www.tdlr.texas.gov/LicenseSearch, enter "Electricians" in the "Inquire by License Type" box and the name of the sign business or person in the "Inquire by Name" box. If they are not licensed they can not.
So someone can sell you signs and not be licensed to install or service them. You may have to have this done. But unless the electrical signs you buy are "listed" (U.L. usually) they won't be allowed to be installed in Texas, a State of Texas Consumer Protection Safety Law designed to insure that signs are safe to use, with a few local city ordinance exceptions. It is not illegal to sell them to you, however. Buy carefully.

* A poorly installed EMC can void a factory warranty, leaving YOU to haggle responsibility with the
installer and sign seller (broker.) For instance, without a separate 
grounding electrode being installed during the
installation of most LED signs the manufacturer's warranty is void. Will you know if your installer doesn't install a grounding electrode? Problems will probably begin to occur months later.
Is the sign installer working for you, or the factory, or only the sign seller (broker?) Who is legally responsible?
Who has the financial ability to remedy accidents and omissions? Single-source responsibility is best. Product liability insurance is good, too.
The Value of "Listed" Digital Signage
Virtually ALL cities, as well as the State of Texas, adopt the National Electric Code as law.
The National Electric Code (NEC) requires that for electrical, structural, and installation safety all electrical signs be "Listed" (tested and labelled with an appropriate Listing Mark.)
Certification (testing and labeling) organizations acceptable in the USA to test to the multitude of Standards signs are required to meet are determined by OSHA.
For you the Listing Mark is insurance. It means that the sign has been tested to insure that it is structurally and electrically safe, and will be installed properly. You benefit from the knowledge that it is not solely us telling you that our signs are safe, this is what the testing laboratories and the US Government says also.
W
ill your sign be tested and approved for safe use in a Wet (Outdoor) location? Not if it's not Listed!
If the sign you are purchasing does not have a ETL or UL Listing Mark label the sign is probably not legal to install, anywhere in Texas. There are a few local city ordinance exceptions.
Buy carefully.

The Most Cost-Effective Advertising You Can Do
How much would you invest to double your take-home pay?
The United State Small Business Administration (SBA) says that an LED message center sign in front of a business increases the store's sales volume 15 - 150%.
This is all profit; expenses are already being paid.
Even with a 50% cost-of-goods this is an increase in take-home pay of 7.5% - 75%. Most businesses do not have this high a cost-of-goods.
Deduct from this amount the $10.25 per day it costs to both purchase and operate a 6' x 12' free-standing full-color LED message center sign that is installed 20' tall, paying off the loan in 6 years. After that, only deduct about $1.00 per day.

Your Competition
The nature of competition is that every competitor that buys a similar sign after you do will try to purchase one that is bigger and better.
Because of this, buy the latest technology and the biggest sign allowed by city ordinance.
Be very careful when picking your sign company. There are good ones out there, but there are far more "bargain basement" companies. Sometimes the cheapest bidder may be the best (banners, vinyl graphics, etc.) but this is not true with an LED Display.
Look at an excerpt from an article in Sign & Digital Graphics, a trade magazine, which gives advice to brokers who are purchasing this type of signage for resale:
You get what you pay for, and what seems like a smart savings upfront can turn into an expensive (and stressful) nightmare later on.
Look for a manufacturer whose signs have a reputation for durability and reliability. The manufacturers service staff should have an intimate knowledge of the sign manufacturing process, rather than those who simply read technical tips from a handbook.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are programmable LED signs, and how do they differ from traditional static business signs or other digital options like LCD screens?
Programmable LED signage takes a user's images, video, animations or text and dynamically displays it on the sign in a rapidly changeable manner. Using LEDs and pixels, the sign displays the businesses' message in a similar fashion to a television or a computer monitor. The dynamic nature of the signage, allowing for changing messages without delay, makes them a far superior advertising method for a business or a church.
What does "LED" stand for, and how do programmable LED signs work to display content?
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. Each diode creates a color, generally red, green or blue. By combinding those colors you generate other colors, just like a computer monitor. A controller inside the sign takes the messages and determines which LED should light up, and how much, in order for the sign to reflect the correct image, video or text. What are the different types of programmable LED signs?
There's basically two types of technology on the market today: LED and SMD. Both have their place in signage. LEDs are brighter and work best for outdoor use. They also last longer and are more durable. SMDs are smaller, dimmer, but you can pack more of them into a smaller area. So, although each SMD may be smaller than their LED cousins, when you pack twice as many in there you can still achieve a very bright sign. Are monochrome programmable LED signs still effective for businesses, or should I opt for full-color digital LED signage?
In short ... get a full color sign. The monochrome signage is much less widely used anymore. Finding parts and even new suppliers for the technology is difficult as almost everybody has abandoned monochrome as the full color LED signage prices have come down.
Who can benefit most from using programmable LED signs for their business?
Any organization that wants to get a message across to the people in their area can greatly benefit from an digital LED sign. A church will frequently show welcome messages, sermon times, holiday greetings, locally targeted messages, etc. A retail business may show specials, store hours, products, etc. Even a lawyer's office can use programmable signs to show messages like awards, community involvement, etc. So, there is no organization that cannot make great use out of an electronic LED marquee sign.
What features do programmable LED signs offer for customization?
Digital marquee signs have a tremendous level of customization. For messages you can display images, text, videos, weather information and more. Scheduling messages for specific times lets you target political messaging, holiday greetings, cheering on the local football team, etc. Functionally you can customize the brightness of the sign, dimming it at specific times, turning it off (blank screen) when you need it, etc.
